The American Film Institute came out with their list of their top 100 films of all time yesterday. Here’s how some of my favorites did, with their positions on the 1997 list in parentheses:

• 100. Ben-Hur (72)
• 99. Toy Story
• 97. Blade Runner
• 76. Forrest Gump (71)
• 66. Raiders of the Lost Ark (60)
• 50. LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring
• 39. Dr. Strangelove (26)
• 28. All About Eve (16)
• 24. E.T. (25)
• 15. 2001 (22)
• 13. Star Wars (15)
• 10. The Wizard of Oz (6)

As you can see, a lot of them fell down the list this time. Just about everybody did, but Citizen Kane is still #1. Quite a few dropped off like Fargo, Dances With Wolves, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Amadeus. FOTR, Blade Runner, and Toy Story are newcomers this time around.
