Folk have been working themselves into a lather over the SS Bespin Luke prototype since before Comic-Con. There is something to it. On the proto shown at the con (represented by the pic on the left), the collar looked a lot different from what is seen in ESB. Not long afterward new pics showed up on the SS site with a different collar (including on the more recent pic on the right). I’m still not sure if it was a new collar or simply the old one turned up. Along with that controversy were the pockets on the jacket. Too big! Well, they’re big, anyway, but it’s quite noticeable on the older proto. On the new proto, the pockets look much better.
One thing that’s always bugged me about SS’s pics is that the figures seemed to have been taken straight out of the box and photographed. No futzing around to not make it look like a toy. Looks like this time somebody went through the effort.

Yep, it’s that two-pack SS teased at Comic-Con. Apparently (from enhanced pics posted hither and yon), Sidious will be post-deformed Palpy in the funky brown robe. At least the sculpt isn’t the over-the-top clown grimace we see in the duel with Yoda. As much as I can’t stand the PT, I have to admit that’s a darn good sculpt. A bit tanned, though. Maybe he vacations in the south of Naboo. :p

I just love Wor-Gar’s kitchen pics!
It’s new figure time, and Asajj arrived at my door earlier today. Not much I can criticize about this one, except the sleeves like to crawl up around her elbows. Can fix that later. I love the sabers; the prevailing style is to hang the unlit ones by their magnets from the front rings on her belt, as in the pic. I ordered the exclusive version with the alternate comic-style head, but I’ll keep the cartoon-style head on her.
Sideshow hit another one out of the park. I don’t mind sharing my domicile with another perpetually ticked off female. :p

At One Sixth Warriors:
What’s Your 1/6th Holy Grail?
Porkins73: For me, its the Hasbro SAGA packed 1/6 Biker Scout (the one that comes without the bike). I have even asked Aly and Cracktroop to look for it in HongKong but to no avail. Is it hard to find in the States as well???
Erm.. am I off topic
pukingdog: Not certain, but I’d guess yes, it’s as hard to find as a good plotline in the last few SW movies.
And I’d say it would be a grail of the onesix kind, and therefore, you are on topic.
I wasn’t sure whether to put it here or in the Throne Room. Anyway, I do remember that scout with speeder bike. (From my research, that bike might be from the Power of the Force 2 collection, not the Saga collection.) I was looking for Mace Windu at Target, but he hadn’t gotten there yet. But the speeder bike was there, all $45 worth of it. It looked interesting, but I didn’t have the money for it, just for Mace, which I found at Wal-Mart.

That’s all there is to it. With Frodo and Sam ready for pre-order very soon, there’s really no reason not to make the remaining members of the Fellowship. It might take 3-4 years to do it at the current pace, though. If SS balks and does something like a Fellowship diorama instead of the last four characters, I and quite a few people will be understandably upset. They’re already testing people’s patience, and I don’t think another 250-day wait for a figure announcement is going to encourage them to fork over their money, no matter how good these figures are.

I’m surprised nobody had thought to release the five captains as 12″ figures as a kind of commemorative for ST’s 40th anninversary last year. Diamond Select is doing retro-style figures from TOS, but I mean really nice high-end stuff. I’d definitely want Kirk, Picard and Sisko; Janeway and Archer not quite so much, but I’d get them to complete the set.
Update: I had heard a rumor during Comic-Con that Gentle Giant announced that it acquired the license to make 12″ ST figures, and there are pictures of Picard in the early TNG uniform floating around the web. I finally saw them tonight, and the headsculpt doesn’t look bad at all! It was a prototype, so you know how that goes…
