Latest Haul

July 21st, 2009

I took advantage of Triad Toys’ 4th of July sale and picked up a few things:

Chosen One outfit, leather, female – don’t know what I’ll use it for
set of metal sais – ditto
female biker boots – two possible uses
I-Spy outfit, male – use the top for something
female gloved gun hands – I lost a hand under the nightstand, so this replaces it
female Hero-Type suit – all purpose thing, should always have one around for a quick bash
Harley Chic belt – might look good on my Westlander custom

I really need to get some base bodies, so that’s probably what I’ll focus on for the next purchase.

Odds and Ends

October 14th, 2008

I can’t begin to say how happy I am with how Rhianwyn came out. Considering I had gotten extremely ill at the end of June/beginning of July until August, I’m amazed she got finished at all. The only things that bugged me were the bracers, and I fixed those recently. I’d like to add a waterskin, but that’s “gravy” stuff and I’m in no hurry to make it. I’d also like to find some grasping hands so she can hold the bow and sword better.

I had thought the next figure would be the wizard I wanted to put with Rhianwyn, but it looks like one of the covert ops/spy type characters I want to do will be next. She doesn’t lack much, only boots, a decent gun, and sunglasses. I bought a lot of stuff from Triad Toys for this bash and others, and the package finally came last Friday after waiting almost a week and a half. Maybe the wizard will be done by New Years’.

The Master Chief figure I ordered from Big Bad Toys Store shipped today, so he might show up at the end of the week. It still bugs me that there won’t be a true sixth-scale figure made by anybody. He’ll look a bit dinky next to my other figures, but put him next to some future Spartans and he should be fine.

Buy Just To Bash

August 18th, 2008

I’m new to customizing/kit-bashing, so I don’t know all of how things work. One of the next bashes I’m planning needs a specific headsculpt, namely African-American. Not many choices out there, so I have to go off the beaten path. I was eyeing Barbie dolls for a while, then I saw the Holiday Barbie for this year. And I couldn’t stop looking at that doll. I mean, this is it! A little bit of paint, redo the hair, there you go! But–that’s the only thing I want from the doll. So, essentially, I would be spending $40 for a headsculpt.

Have I gone too far? I’m not sure. I’m also contemplating buy a figure for the stuff and selling the headless, handless, footless body. Otaku bodies are in high demand right now, but I don’t have any use for them. But I want the stuff. $60 for the figure, but this is different from the Barbie thing.

Or is it?
